If you haven’t already read— and you probably have — Brene Brown’s work on vulnerability is excellent. I just re-read her book “Daring Greatly.” Good stuff.
One thing I would say, as a writer comfortable with vulnerability, I still have boundaries. I never write about anything I still feel emotional about. When I write personal stories, I have distance from them. I’ve worked through the hard parts and can tell the story without asking anything from readers (validation, sympathy etc.). That way I don’t feel naked. I own the story, it doesn’t own me. Which isn’t to say it’s not still hard. I think carefully about each and every time my finger pauses over the “publish” button.
I’m glad you’re exploring your own boundaries and taking the time you need to do it right.
