I have found this to be true in so many different contexts. For some reason, and for too long, I thought there was a cost to me of being the initiator — Like I was on the losing side of a power struggle. Just as you say, a”pride thing.”

But then I realized IT COSTS ME NOTHING to be the first. As long as I have the energy to do it (and I’m aware of my own and other people’s boundaries), I will.

I have made so many friends this way. And even if nothing more than a “hello” is ever exchanged, knowing I have the love to give and then to give it freely is part of my core operating system nowadays.

I’m so glad you shared this important advice to readers.
