I agree with you.

One of the things I admire about Justice Ginsberg’s position on equality, is her belief in justice for all. She has fought for a father’s right to “mother’s support” offered as a benefit only to widows. Why shouldn’t men be eligible for the same support a woman would receive if her husband was killed?

It’s the same argument here I think. Turning a human person into an object in service to another — of any gender — is wrong. Personally, while you’re undoubtedly right, the effort should come from both sides, I think the more insidious problem for men and boys these days is how we virtually force them to give up or hide their emotions in order to appear “manly.”

As you said, it’s another side to the coin. Together, it’s all part of creating a world where we value people not for their adherence to norms but for their unique contributions to our families and communities — not for their beauty, their sexual prowess, or how much money they make.
